Call for Applications: Disability Grants In South Africa 2025
Are you a person living with a disability in South Africa, or an organisation serving the disability community? Do you have a vision for a business, a need for medical support, a plan for further studies, or a requirement for essential assistive equipment? If so, this grant funding opportunity is for you.
The Disability Grants Programme 2025 is now inviting applications for financial support ranging from R85,000 to R1.7 million (approx. $5,000 to $100,000).
Our mission is to break down financial barriers and invest in the talents, health, and ambitions of South Africans with disabilities.

Who Can Apply?
- Individuals living with any form of disability (physical, sensory, intellectual, psychosocial) in South Africa.
- Registered non-profit organisations (NPOs) and social enterprises that are majority-led by persons with disabilities or primarily serve the disability community.
- Caregivers applying on behalf of a dependent with a disability (for relevant categories).
Grant Categories:
Applicants can apply for funding under one of the following categories:
- Business Startup & Enterprise Development (Up to R1.7 million): Seed funding for new business ventures, capital for equipment, website development, or initial inventory. Business plans must demonstrate viability and a clear path to sustainability or employment creation.
- Medical & Assistive Equipment (Up to R500,000): Funding for essential medical procedures, therapies, or the purchase of assistive devices and technologies (e.g., wheelchairs, hearing aids, prosthetics, adapted vehicles, communication software). Quotes from reputable suppliers are required.
- Study & Research (Up to R250,000): Scholarships for tertiary education, vocational training, or short courses. Also, grants for research projects led by or directly benefiting people with disabilities.
- Personal Care & Development (Up to R150,000): Support for services that enhance daily living and independence. This includes funding for personal care aides, life skills training, counselling, adaptive sports equipment, or mobility aids not covered under medical.
- Advocacy & Community Projects (For Organisations, Up to R1 million): Project-based funding for initiatives that promote disability rights, community inclusion, awareness campaigns, or skills development workshops.

- Prepare Documents: Have your ID, medical/disability confirmation (doctor’s letter or equivalent), detailed project proposal/business plan, and official quotes (where applicable) ready.

Applications will be assessed based on:
